After my little one had mastered the transition from solely bottle feeding to eating solid foods, we began to use the little pouches of baby food that you can buy at the grocery store. They were so convenient and I almost always kept one in the diaper bag or my purse just in case we started to have a bit of a breakdown in a public place. They were great for taking with us to restaurants and really saved us on our trip to DC last summer. To save money, I began doing a little research into some alternatives for reusable food pouches.
Save time and money with Yummi Pouch
One of the first sites I came across was Yummi Pouch! I was so amazed with the concept of reusable pouches and loved how easy everything seemed! When I received my package in the mail, I knew that I was going to fall in love with these pouches. They are thick plastic that is safe to use in the dishwasher (and freezer), and the zipper opening has a double lock on it to prevent any leaks! At first, I wasn't even sure what I was going to use to fill the pouches since there are literally so many possibilities! You can fill your pouches with pretty much everything from baby food to smoothies! Plus, they are SO easy to use and are just as mom friendly as they are kid friendly!
Take a look at how to use the pouches:
I filled five pouches of yogurt to be used later on in a little less than ten minutes! Since I have started using the Yummi Pouches, I have filled them with yogurt, apple sauce, and even a few the Gerber yogurt that you don't have to keep refrigerated (to use for a few day trips). My biggest concern with the pouches is that they would be a pain to clean, but they are honestly a breeze. After we used them once, I just rinsed them a little in the sink, then popped them in the dishwasher. They were still a little damp on the inside, but since they can stand on their own when opened, I just stood them on a towel for a little while before refilling them!
I have been so impressed with Yummi Pouch reusable food pouches and have even determined that using this alternative will save us a lot of money! Since the store bough pouches are a little over a dollar a piece, I'll be able to get a lot more bang for my buck with Yummi Pouch. I bought a carton of yogurt for only $3 and got a ton of pouch uses out of that one carton, rather than paying $1/pouch of the single use!
I absolutely love my Yummi Pouches and have actually already placed an order to get a few more! I wrote Eli's name with sharpie on the pouches for days that we are with family or at church, and you can write expiration dates using dry-erase markers if you are afraid you won't use the pouches quickly! The best part is that the kids won't outgrow these pouches and you can continue to use them for a long time!!
